Alexander (Francis) is born in Killingly, Connecticut.

Francis Alexander comes to Boston in 1825 after meeting Gilbert Stuart and becomes one of Boston’s most prolific portrait painters. He marries Lucia Gray Swett on May 9, 1836 and the couple move to today’s 9 West Cedar Street. Alexander dies on March 27, 1880 on Florence, Italy.
